Outdoor candles do two things at once: create atmosphere and keep mosquitoes away. Both are commercially interesting from April. The collection ranges from small citronella glasses to large hanging lanterns in sisal and paper rope. Designed to sell throughout spring and summer.
What's in the collection?
Two main categories: outdoor candles and outdoor lanterns. They work individually, but best in combination.
- Citronella candles: in glass jars or loose wax form. The classic mosquito repellent. Major purchasing peak in May-June.
- Outdoor scented candles without citronella: Spaas summer blossom, lemon breeze, ginger love. For customers who want ambiance but not the citronella scent.
- Sisal rope lanterns: hanging, with natural braiding in orange, pink, yellow and fuchsia. Summer vibe, ideal for terrace restaurants and garden centers.
- Paper rope lanterns (Nicole series): with glass underneath, in different heights and colors. Water-resistant due to the rope finish, decorative due to the color mix.
- Jute lanterns: natural fiber look with fuchsia accents. For a more natural, boho look.
- Round Lumière lanterns: 16 cm, in nude pink, sky blue, coral red, yellow and matcha green. Standard, well-selling size for table and balcony decoration.
Which candles work best?
For terrace restaurants: citronella in glass jars, available for purchase in sets of 6 or 12. They burn long enough for an entire evening. For gift shops and garden centers: scented candles without citronella and smaller lanterns. They also sell well as individual gifts. For florists with an outdoor section: the sisal and jute lanterns. Combine with outdoor accessories and outdoor lighting for a complete patio display.
When does demand peak?
The purchasing peak is in March-April. The sales peak is from May to September, with a specific resurgence around wedding season, Father's Day, and the summer holidays. Citronella sells in waves following weather reports and mosquito news. It's useful to always keep some basic stock from May onwards.
Important usage tip to pass on
Do not leave sisal and paper rope lanterns directly in full sun or rain. Discoloration of the natural material is otherwise difficult to prevent. It is useful for your customers to mention this during sale. For cross-selling: LED candles as a flameless alternative, and lanterns for indoor variants.
